Example Forecast 18/06/11 – 19/06/11 – Tuesday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Two Low’s off the Irish West Coast at about 996 millibars on Friday will provide the swell. The lower one will move East into Eire and North Western England, but the higher (more Mid-Atlantic based) will be pushed North off the Scottish West Coast by a European High of 1015 millibars on Saturday proper. Whilst all this is happening a fat Low of 1008 millibars off the Eastern Coast of North America will start to move in towards us for Sunday. Stay tuned for further updates, as things will undoubtedly develop as the week goes on………….

OVERALL

Not great in Scotland, non-existent for the East Coast, the best option is the South West and Wales. But winds may not be very favourable, if you can find a sheltered spot, you’ll have fun (but probably smaller wrap-around waves). Probably the best course of action is to just get in there and have fun in the mush……! Stay tuned for further updates, as things may change as the week goes on…………

BEGINNERS / IMPROVERS

A very challenging weekend for you guys it’ll be well overhead with strong currents on Saturday, Sunday will be smaller but still bigish for you guys, so proceed with caution - sometimes shelter is the better part of valour!?! ;0) Stay tuned for further updates, as things may change as the week goes on…………

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
