Example Forecast 16/07/11 – 17/07/11 – Tuesday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

As it stands a fat Icelandic Low of 1010 millibars will move down from Iceland hitting Northern Scotland on Saturday and covering Northern England over the period. This will be counteracted by a High pressure of 1032 millibars moving up from the Southern Atlantic into the Mid-Atlantic by Saturday. As Sunday continues the High pressure will dominate proceedings, in turn filling the Low that is over the mainland UK – that is what seems to be happening, but as ever it is early in the week, but stay tuned for further updates, as things will undoubtedly develop as the week goes on………….

OVERALL

Western Scotland, Wales and Southern England are the call, everywhere else will either be slop or flat. But as per this type of swell, some hunting will be in order, but also staying tuned for further updates is a must, as things may well change as the week goes on…………

BEGINNERS / IMPROVERS

Okay this will be a big and gnarly and messy one for you on the North Coast. If you do head to Wales, or the South Coast remember your green cross code / rules of the road, as the swell will be pumping and no one wants you in their way. So a bit of a challenge, can you put what you have learnt into practice!?! Stay tuned for further updates, as things may change as the week goes on…………

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
