Example Forecast 05/05/12 – 06/05/12 – Thursday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

A series of Low’s over Europe and Scandinavia will be mainly land based to start with as the week ends. On Saturday a Galician Low will move in to the bay of Biscay and join with a mainland French Low – this movement will give a little bit of swell for the South West of the UK. Meanwhile the East Coast of the UK will see a Scandinavian Low in the Northern North Sea move around a Baltic pressure center, before moving North and filling as it goes on Sunday. The High pressures for the period will be over Greenland and Iceland, and will move down to encompass much of the UK over the period in the 1016 millibar range on Sunday. Sunday will also see a splintering off of a front from the French Low which will cross Biscay and come to rest South West of Southern Ireland.

OVERALL

The East Coast of the UK and North Eastern Scotland look fun on Saturday, then smaller on Sunday. Not much else to mention of merit really, although there is always a chance and a hope down in deepest darkest swell amplifying spots in Kernow!?!

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
