Example Forecast 11/08/12 – 12/08/12 – Tuesday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

A mainland UK High of 1024 millibars will cover all of the UK on Saturday, with a small fat Low of 1012 millibars West of Ireland in the near Atlantic. By Sunday the Low will have moved East covering South Western Ireland and moving in towards us, helped in part by a Greenland Low of 1002 millibars. The combination of these two Low’s will push the High pressure that was over us East into Scandinavia and towards Russia. So this will mean predominantly South Easterly winds everywhere on Saturday, followed, by South Westerly winds for the West Coast on Sunday as the Low’s start to take hold of things. Stay tuned for further updates, as things may well change as the week goes on…………

OVERALL

Not a lot for the East Coast to mention, Northern Scotland (at swell amplifying spots) both days. Then the South West of England (& Wales), looking fun too, more so on Saturday though. Stay tuned for further updates, as hopefully things may change as the week goes on…………

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
