Example Forecast 01/09/12 – 02/09/12 – Tuesday Early Bird Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

A High of 1028 millibars will be over Southern England and Ireland over the whole period, the Low’s look to be around Iceland in the 988 millibar range, both to the West and North East of Greenland around the Greenland Sea. The Icelandic Low’s will clearly bombard Northern Scotland in particular with swell, and then as the period goes on swell will be pushed into the South West by the winds that are sucked in and associated with the Southern England High pressure. Stay tuned for further updates, as things may well change as the week goes on…………

OVERALL

Some hunting in Northern Scotland over the period may result in some cranking and challenging surf. Western Scotland on Saturday again may be ok (at wind sheltered spots), and then maybe the East Coast at times. Every other Coast looks mediocre and naff overall. Stay tuned for further updates, as hopefully things may change as the week goes on…………

BEGINNERS / IMPROVERS

Lumpy surf overall in the South West, as the winds will bring what there is. Northern Scotland will be way off the richter scale for you guys, head East for something more manageable. But for those down in the South West, don’t be picky, practice makes perfect. Stay tuned for further updates, as things may change as the week goes on…………

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
