Example Forecast 05/01/13 – 06/01/13 – Thursday Early Bird Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

A High of 1036 millibars plus centred over Northern France will also dominate much of the UK's weather over the period, with the High pressure extending over us too in the 1028 millibar range. Sunday will see the High weaken slightly to about 1030 millibars or so, but it will remain more or less in situ, maybe covering Southern England a bit, but overall much of the UK will still be under 1028 millbars of High pressure. The Low's to counter all this High action will be off the Southern Greenland Coast at 978 millibars on Saturday with a fatter Low of 990 millibars heading East from Nova Scotia towards us, as the period continues. By Sunday Midday the Low scenario looks to see two fat-ish Low's in the Northern Mid-Atlantic. This will mean that, winds will have move South in them for most coasts (especailly by Sunday), so if you have surf it'll probably be clean, but make sure your read your areas to make the most of what there is........

OVERALL

Fun for the South West throughout and Northern Scotland at times(particlarly on Sunday), Wales will also have some fun-ish waves at times. So a fun weekend in the South West particularly.......

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
