Example Forecast 09/02/13 – 10/02/13 – Friday Morning Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

The big High that was 1036 millibars that stretched from the Azores all the way to us through the week, will be squashed by a deep Low of 976 millibars coming out of Greenland on Saturday. Sunday will see the Low push cold fronts in our direction, which in turn will create a small Low pressure system of 996 millibars over mainland England. As a consequence the Azorean High will be pushed / squeezed back around the Azorean at 1032 millibars.

OVERALL

Northern Scotland will be offshore throughout, so that would be our call. Failing that maybe the far South West on the South Coast on Sunday. South facing Welsh spots may also be on, on Sunday – good hunting……

BEGINNERS / IMPROVERS

Wales looks to be your best manageable scenario, or some spots on the South Coast, but you will have to hunt to get it not too lumpy…….

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
