Example Forecast 16/02/13 – 17/02/13 – Friday Evening Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

A High over Scandinavia / Western Russia of 1026 millibars and another of 1025 millibars over Eastern Europe will combine by Saturday pushing an area of High pressure to cover much of the UK on Saturday and into Sunday too. The Low pressure will come in the form of two Low’s in the Western Atlantic of 989 millibars, with another coming from up from the South Western Atlantic around the Azores at 978 millibars, these Low’s will combine on Saturday to form one entity of 972 millibars. Sunday will see the Low move North to be in the near North Western Atlantic, West of Scotland and Iceland. This will all mean that winds will be predominantly South Easterly for much of the UK, so a cracking weekend for the Westerly facing spots……

OVERALL

Northern Scotland will be have some swell, but not a lot. Our call would be the deepest darkest South West swell amplifying spots, which although small (on Saturday) will be fun on Sunday. Good hunting…….

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
