Example Forecast 23/02/13 – 24/02/13 – Thursday Arvo. Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

An area of High pressure stretching over the whole of the UK on Saturday and down into the Near Atlantic and Biscay at 1024 millibars will build further as the day goes on, with an area of 1028 millibars building over Northern Scotland. By Sunday this growing High will now be at 1028 millibars over the UK, with it’s associated area extending all the way to the Azores and Northern Africa in the 1024 millibar range. Meanwhile to the West of us, the other side of the High pressure, coming out of North America will be three Low pressures all in the 990 millibar range on Saturday, then by Sunday as the High pressure has extended these Low pressures will have formed into one entity of about 980 millibars. Clearly though the size and fatness of the High will block much of this swell from getting in, so make sure you read your relevant (and neighbouring) areas to make the most of what there is…….

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
