PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Two Low pressures, one North West of Scotland and the other off the Northern Norwegian Coast on Friday will come together by Saturday to form one entity over the mainland UK at about 992 millibars. Whilst the main Low remains centered over the mainland UK throughout Sunday, new fatter/weaker Lows will form around Iceland and off the Norwegian Coast respectively. Meanwhile the Highs will in the Mid-Atlantic and Eastern Europe on Saturday, at 1024 and 1020 millibars respectively; sort of sandwiching the mainland Low in the middle. All this will mean……

OVERALL

Wales may be fun on Saturday (South facing spots), and the far South West will also be bashable, as will be the South Coast. Then on Sunday Northern Scotland and the Scottish East Coast will be worth a gander……

BEGINNERS / IMPROVERS

Mind yourself in the South West on Saturday, will be head high and windy, head for sheltered, smaller spots where it will be more manageable for you guys. The East Coast, in particular Norfolk on Saturday will be more your cup of tea……

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
