Example Forecast 18/05/13 – 19/05/13 – Wednesday Early Bird Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Saturday will see a big area of High pressure of 1028 millibars in the Mid-Atlantic, North of the Azores will stretch all the way up into the Norwegian Sea. The Low’s meanwhile will be around England, to the West and then around the East Coast and over Central France all about 1004 millibars – so quite fat Low’s. Sunday will see the Low’s rotating around us, resulting in a deep (in relation to the Azorean High, still at 1028 millibars) Low of 990 millibars, just South of Ireland. This will all mean vastly varying winds at times for all areas, so do stay tuned for further updates as, as the week goes on, as things may well change…………

OVERALL

Northern Scotland looks ok at times (mainly on Sunday), the South West and Wales look okay-ish for Sunday. But stay tuned for further updates, as thing may change as the week goes on…………

BEGINNERS / IMPROVERS

Manageable at swell amplifying Westerly spots on Saturday, but the jump in swell for Sunday may mean you have to search for some shelter. Stay tuned for further updates, as things may change as the week goes on…………

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
