Example Forecast 01/06/13 – 02/06/13 – Friday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

A Mid-Atlantic High of 1032 millibars will push in from the Azores into the South Western reaches of the UK and Ireland by Saturday. Sunday will see the same high fully entrenched over the mainland UK, with the centre just being to the South West still at 1032 millibars, with the res of it over the mainland at1028 millibars. The Low’s over the period will be fat and around Iceland at 1001 millibars, but this Low will move North up into the Greenland Sea on Sunday as a new Low comes out of North America and crosses into the Mid-Atlantic for Sunday at 988 millibars. But this new North American Low will never really get into us till later in the week, so this will all mean that there will be little or no swell in the South West. All the major action will be in Northern Scotland, read your relevant areas to make the most of what there is……

OVERALL

The best of the bunch is Northern Scotland for sure on Saturday, and even Sunday will be fun (although smaller). Norfolk will also have onshore ripples at times, the South West too will be onshore, but only really at swell amplifying spots. Enjoy the weather and the ripples……..

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
