Example Forecast 11/09/10 – 12/09/10 – Tuesday Arvo. Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Right there will be two Lows both fat at about 1000 millibars up in the Mid to Northern Atlantic around Iceland, thus be giving swell for Western Coasts and Northern Scotland on Saturday. Meanwhile from the Southern Atlantic a High of 1026 millibars will be moving up towards us. By Sunday the High pressure will be starting to encompass all of the UK, pushing those Lows further North into the Northern North Sea. So a mixed bag overall stay tuned for further updates, as things will undoubtedly develop as the week goes on…………

OVERALL

Not great anywhere - unless you know a spot that can handle the winds. By Sunday for most of the Southern UK the swell will have halved. We live in hope things will change as the week goes on. Stay tuned for further updates, as things will undoubtedly develop as the week goes on…………

BEGINNERS / IMPROVERS

Challenging on Saturday size-wise – see if you can find shelter from the winds. Sunday will be good paddling practice against the stronger winds, but more manageable size-wise. But you will be learning what lumpiness is really like! Stay tuned for further updates, as things will undoubtedly develop as the week goes on…………

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
