Example Forecast 10/08/13 – 11/08/13 – Tuesday Morning Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

A Low of about 1000 millibars on Saturday will have dropped down from Iceland to be off the North West Coast of Scotland by midday. Meanwhile in the Mid-Atlantic two separate High pressures of 1028 millibars from North America and Africa respectively will start to come together, forming one mass by midday on Sunday. The presence of the these High pressures will push the Low off the North West Coast of Scotland into the South Western Norwegian sea (just North East of Northern Scotland). This Low will still be about 1000 millibars. All this will mean that the majority of the swell will be in and around Scotland, as the Low pressure will be circling around that neck of the woods. It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
