Example Forecast 17/08/13 – 18/08/13 – Thursday Early Bird Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Things have changed, check out the detail………a Low of 984 millibars coming down from South Eastern Greenland, will cross the Northern Atlantic moving East to come to sit between Iceland and Northern Scotland on Saturday - it will have a long trail of a front that will extend all the way down into the Mid-Atlantic. There will be a weak High pressure around the Azores at 1024 millibars, which will be squashed somewhat by the cold front coming out of from the Northerly Low. Sunday will see the cold front dominate the whole of Western Europe, as the Low itself moves East into the Northern North Sea / Southern Norwegian Sea. So Sunday will see the High disappear South of the Azores and out of our sphere of influence, this will mean that there will be swell everywhere but only for Western Coasts only throughout the UK. Read your relevant areas to make the most of what there is, good hunting…………

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
