PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

A big area of High pressure of 1024 millibars will stretch from the Bay of Biscay all the way down to the Azores on Saturday. Meanwhile there will be three Low’s one off the North East Coast of Greenland at 984 millibars, and two others in the Mid-Atlantic, with the nearest to us being 984 millibars again, heading East towards us. Sunday will see the Low East of Greenland having deepened to 982 millibars with the Atlantic Low having moved to sit between Iceland and North Western Scotland filling as it has come in to about 990 millibars. The High pressure will have expanded and grown to cover mainland Europe and Southern England, varying in depth from 1020 millibars to 1024 millibars. All this will mean that he majority of the swell will be in / around Scotland, but make sure you read your areas to make the most of what is there……..

OVERALL

Not really a great weekend, Northern Scotland seems to your best, everywhere else will be small. A few ripples in the South West and Wales, but not a lot, read the detail to get the most of what there is…………

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
