Example Forecast 23/11/13 – 24/11/13 – Friday PM Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

A High pressure of 1028 millibars will sit over the UK on Saturday with a big area of Low pressure of 984 millibars in the far Western Atlantic off the North American North Coasts. There will be another Low of 976 millibars in the Norwegian Sea, moving North having little or no impact to speak of on Saturday, although by Sunday there may well be some residual / late pulses down the East Coast. Sunday midday will see the High have fattened still in situ over the UK at 1032 millibars, the North American Low pressure will have moved East into the Northern Atlantic fattening too as it comes to 996 millibars, whilst the deep Low in the Norwegian Sea will have fattened too to 988 millibars. All this means that most of the swell will be around Northern Scotland overall, there will be some ripples in the South West, but mainly only on Sunday…………

OVERALL

Looks like a bit of a Highland weekend throughout, although it will be a tad lumpy. The South West and Wales on Sunday would be worth a gander too, with light offshores. Read your areas to get the best of what there is…….

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
