Example Forecast 08/03/14 – 09/03/14 – Friday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

There will be several High pressures over North Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean and in the far Western Atlantic. The dominant High pressure of the group will be the North Eastern European one at 1032 millibars. Meanwhile one big Low of 960 millibars will be just to the North West UK, with another Low of 984 millibars being the first being just off the Eastern Greenland Coast. Sunday will see Saturday’s Low having moved East into the Norwegian Sea, deepening as it goes to 964 millibars. Around Greenland there will be three areas of Low Pressure to the North West (Davis Straight), West (Labrador Sea) and East of Greenland (South West of the Denmark Strait). A new deep area of low pressure will come out of North America at 980 millibars, this deep Low will in turn have squeezed the Western Atlantic High East back towards the Canary Islands, before it will start to move / pop-up towards Southern England on Monday. All this will mean swell in various spots, make sure you read the detail, to get the best of what there is. Have fun, good hunting……….

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
