PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Friday will see the High pressures around the UK to our North and East with the Low’s coming out of the far Western Atlantic, and also Southern Spain. Saturday Midday will see the Western Atlantic Low have moved East into the Mid-Atlantic at 996 millibars with a double centre, whilst the Low from Spain will have moved up into the Bay of Biscay and be just off the South West Coast at 1004 millibars. Sunday will see the Mid-Atlantic Low split and be two entities, one of 996 millibars West of Ireland, with the other deeper at 988 millibars off the North Western Spanish Coast by Midday. Meanwhile the High pressures will continue to come out of Greenland, crossing Iceland into the Norwegian Sea, Norway and into the Baltic Sea in the 1028 millibar range. All this will mean that the High pressures will be to the East of us, providing favourable winds, but will there be enough swell getting in?! Well there will be swell in Scotland and the far South West, but make sure you read your relevant areas to make the most of what there is…….

OVERALL

Northern Scotland looks to be the biggest and best of the bunch, the South West will also be clean and fun on Saturday though. Make sure you read the detail…………

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.

  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
