Example Forecast 12/04/14 – 13/04/14 – Tuesday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

A High of 1028 millibars will be in the Near Atlantic, stretching over the mainland UK too, Low pressures will be in the Norwegian Sea at 980 millibars. There will also be more Low’s around Greenland, getting ready for Sunday. So Sunday will see more Low’s coming out of Greenland, but, due to the High pressure South the Low’s will be kept North of Scotland. So in short the movement of the Greenland Low’s will push Saturday’s High east into Eastern Europe still at 1028 millibars, but as it is so large it will still cover all of the UK at about 1020 millibars. Meanwhile the Low will be stretching from Iceland all the way to Norway across the Norwegian Sea at about 1000 millibars. Stay tuned for further updates, as things may well change as the week goes on…………

OVERALL

Northern Scotland is the only place in the UK with any proper swell to talk of, but you will need to mind the wind, but if you can, you’ll have fun. Deepest darkest Cornwall is the only other real option, but it will be small. But do stay tuned for further updates, as things may well change as the week goes on…………

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
