Example Forecast 03/05/14 – 04/05/14 – Thursday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

A big area of High pressure of 1028 millibars will stretch all the way from Southern England to just off the East Coast of Greenland and into the Greenland Sea on Saturday. There will be Low pressures in the Northern Atlantic, two crossing the Atlantic just South of Greenland in the 988 to 992 milibar range, with a third at 996 millibars coming out of North America. Sunday will see the Low’s combine in the Northern Mid-Atlantic spinning around together with a double centre at 988 millibars, whilst the High pressure over the UK will have weakened and been moved slightly to 1024 millibars, but it will still be over Southern England predominantly. So no real major swell getting in anywhere, just scratching for rideable waves overall. But do stay tuned for further updates, as things may well change as the week goes on…………

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
