Example Forecast 03/05/14 – 04/05/14 – Friday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Saturday will see an area of High pressure of 1029 millibars stretch all the way from Southern England to just off the East Coast of Greenland and into the Greenland Sea. But it will start to be, being squeezed by four areas of Low pressures in the Northern Atlantic, two crossing the Atlantic just South of Greenland in the 981 to 994 milibar range, with a third in the Mid-Atlantic at 995 millibars with the fourth coming out of North America at 1003 millibars. Sunday will see all the Low’s combine in the Northern Mid-Atlantic spinning around together with a double centre at 988 millibars, whilst the High pressure over the UK will have weakened / fattened and been moved slightly South East to be about 1020 millibars, but it will still be over Southern England predominantly. So the long and the short of it is there is no real major swell getting in anywhere for the weekend (Saturday and Sunday), just scratching for rideable waves overall.

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
