Example Forecast 24/05/14 – 25/05/14 – Friday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

A fat Low of 1008 millibars will sit over Central England, encompassing much of the UK, which will remain in situ over the period. To counter this area of Low pressure will be two High pressures, one in the Norwegian Sea at 1028 millibars, with another around the Azores again at 1028 millibars. But around Greenland there will be aLow of 1004 millibars, with another fatter Low coming out of North America at 1008 millibars. These additional Low’s and High’s won’t really come into play until Sunday, this is due in part to four weak High pressures of around 1016 millibars to the East of the UK in Eastern Europe, Western Russia, the Black Sea and the Mediterannean. Sunday will see the Greenland and North American Low pressures moving East towards us, the Low pressures won’t quite be combining yet, but will start to form one mass of about 1012 millibars. The UK Low will continue to be over the mainland, getting slightly fatter than Saturday at 1016 millibars, as the Mid-Atlantic Low pressures move in towards us. This will all mean that…….

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
