Example Forecast 12/07/14 – 13/07/14 – Tuesday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

An area of Low pressure of about 1001 millibars will sit North West of Scotland in the Northern Atlantic, just off the Icelandic Coast by Midday on Saturday, whilst to the South of this pressure system there will be just High pressure systems. One in the Mid Atlantic at 1031 millibars and the other in the Mediterranean at 1017 millibars, with other areas of High pressure around Scandinavia at 1022 millibars. Sunday will see the Main Low having filled to about 1004 millibars, as it drops down into Northern Scotland and Northern England on it’s way to Europe. As it moves South the Main Mid Atlantic High pressure will fill to encompass the whole of the Atlantic at about 1028 millibars. So again another weekend where all the swell will be only on the Western Coasts, but not too big, due to the location and movement of the Low pressure and the dominance of the Mid Atlantic High pressure. But make sure you read your areas to make the most of what there is………

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
