PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Saturday will see a High pressure of 1032 millibars will sit in the Mid-Atlantic around the Azores, this High will push a weak Low of 982 millibars, made up of a compressed bunch of isobars into the UK. To the East of the UK in the North Sea will be another Low of 980 millibars, with even more Low’s to the East stretching into Western Russia. Sunday will see Mid-Atlantic Azorean High fatten to 1035 millibars, spreading over a wider area of the Mid-Atlantic. This High will have pushed any Lows around East into North eastern Europe and Western Russia, with the Russian Low being the deeper entity at 978 millibars, Saturdays weak UK Low in turn will have moved into Scandinavia, filling as it goes to 996 millibars. All this will mean swell but the issue will be winds, read the detail to get the best of what there is……….

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
