Example Forecast 07/02/15 – 08/02/15 –Tuesday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

A big High pressure of 1045 millibars will sit in the near Atlantic off the Western Ireland on Saturday midday, it will be so big in pressure terms as well as area it encompases. Sunday will be almost identical, just slightly weaker at 1044 millibars, but now into mainland England and stretching as far West as the Azores. So High pressure will be dominant throughout the period, so this will mean a lack of Low’s able to sneak under / through, thus there will be little or no swell for Western Coasts. But a Low off Northern Scandinavia combined with the North Westerly winds looks like it may generate some swell for the East Coast. But read the detail and stay tuned for updates, as things may well change as the week goes on……….

OVERALL

The East Coast looks the best bet over the period, although bizarrely the South Coast and the Channel Islands may have swell too. But do stay tuned for further updates, as things will undoubtedly change as the week goes on…………

BEGINNERS / IMPROVERS

The South West throughout will be great for you size-wise, the East Coast too will be fun, but cold! Stay tuned for further updates, as things will undoubtedly change as the week goes on…………

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
