Example Forecast 07/02/15 – 08/02/15 –Friday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

A deep Low of 965 millibars in the Norwegian Sea will hit the Norwegian Coast midday on Saturday, whilst a big High pressure of 1046 millibars will sit in the Atlantic just off the Ireland. Sunday will see the High pressure now over mainland Ireland at 1045 millibars, it’s effect and the area of High pressure overall will cover all of the UK, whilst three new Low pressures will appear over mainland Greenland, with a couple of them coming out of Greenland into the Denmark Straight, and dropping into the Greenland Sea all in the 980 millibar range. All this will mean that there will be some swell, but not a lot, read the detail to get the best of what there is……..

OVERALL

The East Coast looks the best bet over the period, although bizarrely the South Coast and the Channel Islands may have swell too. The South West will be small, and only in the deepest darkest South West. Good hunting…..

BEGINNERS / IMPROVERS

The South West throughout will be great for you size-wise, the East Coast too will be fun, but cold!

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
