Example Forecast 14/03/15 – 15/03/15 – Saturday Dawnie Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Saturday will see a deep Low pressure of 956 millibars in the Denmark Straight, with a long tail stretching into the Mid-Atlantic, which will in turn see a Low of 999 millibars spawned. The High pressure in turn will also be big in pressure at 1045 millibars over Scandinavia and Western Russia, and big in size stretching from Scandinavia into Western Russia. Consequently due to it’s size, this High will also encompass much of the UK and Europe. Sunday will see the Low in the Denmark Strait having moved North and East into the Greenland Sea weakening a bit to 981 millibars, the Low off it’s tail will also have moved North and East into the Northern Atlantic, West of Scotland at 987 millibars. The High pressure over Scandinavia will have moved East too and filled to 1053 millibars, but still encompassing much of the UK and Europe. All this will mean swell for Western Coasts with offshore winds, read the details to get the best of what there is……….

OVERALL

Swell for West facing Coasts (and Northern Scotland), with offshore winds for both, so looking fun good hunting……….

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
