PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

A Low pressure of 993 millibars will sit in the near North Western Atlantic, North West of Ireland by midday on Saturday. The main dominant pressures to the North and South will be High pressures, one High pressure of 1023 millibars in the Bay of Biscay, with another of 1028 millibars in Western Russia, with a third and fourth High pressure in the Norwegian Sea at 1028 millibars, and the final one over Greenland again at 1028 millibars. Another Low will be coming into play coming out of Nova Scotia at 993 millibars, and this will be moving fast in a North Easterly direction for Sunday. So by Sunday midday the two Low pressures will form one entity with a double centre of 997 and 1002 millibars, with the deeper of the two centres, just being off the Irish West Coast. To counter all this there will be a weak High pressure of 1018 millibars in the South Eastern North Sea. All this will mean swell mainly in the South West……….

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
