PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Saturday will see a weak area of Low pressure around Northern Scotland at 1005 millibars, with another in the Norwegian Sea at 1003 millibars, a third deeper Low of 995 millibars will sit in the Mid-Atlantic. The High pressures will be over Greenland at 1022 millibars, with another in the Southern Atlantic creeping up the Coast of Portugal at 1023 millibars. Sunday will see the Mid-Atlantic Low having moved East to sitt just off the Irish West Coast at 993 millibars, the High off the Portuguese Coast will still be in situ, but weaker as a result at 1018 millibars. Iceland will see the Scottish Low now over it at 1008 millibars. With the Low in the Norwegian Sea having moved Eastwards to be off the NorwegianSea at 1008 millibars. All this will mean small swell everywhere, but read your areas and stay tuned, as things may well change as the week goes on……….

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
