Example Forecast 01/08/15 – 02/08/15 – Friday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Saturday will see a weak area of Low pressure off the North Western Scotish Coast at 1001 millibars, with another above just off the Icelandic east Coast in the Norwegian Sea at 1003 millibars. Finally a third deeper Low of 995 millibars will sit in the Mid-Atlantic, with a High pressure of 1019 millibars in the Bay of Biscay, with another in eastern Europe at 1021 millibars and another couple of High pressures over mainland Greenland both at 1026 millibars. Sunday will see the Greenland High pressures have pushed / swamped the Low pressures around Iceland and Scotland, so all there will be is two High pressures of 1025 millibars around Greenland and Iceland. The Mid-Atlantic Low will have moved East to sit just off the Irish West Coast at 985 millibars, but Mainland and Eastern Europe will be dominated by High pressures, with one particular fat one of 1025 millibars preventing a lot of the swell from actually getting in. Read your areas to get the best of what there is……….

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
