Example Forecast 19/09/15 – 20/09/15 – Friday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Saturday will see a High of 1027 millibars will sit in the Bay of Biscay stretching all the way into Mainland England, a deep Low of 980 millibars will sit in the Northern North Atlantic just South East of Greenland. This will be the main action, however things have changed since earlier in the week, with the Norwegian Low being further North than first thought, and at 989 millibars in the Norwegian / Barent Sea, whilst another High of 1024 millibars will start to come out of North America in the Western Atlantic. Sunday will see the Biscay High weaken to 1025 millibars as it moves North and East touching South Eastern England as it moves into the Southern North Sea / Holland. It will be replaced by the North American which will have moved into the Mid Atlantic at 1029 millibars. The Low off Greenland will remain in situ at 986 millibars. This will all mean that the swell will be small everywhere……….

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
