Example Forecast 03/10/15 – 04/10/15 – Tuesday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Saturday will see a fat European High of 1026 millibars, which will be stretching all the way West to cover most of the UK with a nice warm band of 1020 millibars. Meanwhile in the far West / Mid-Atlantic will be a Low of 992 millibars, which will cover the whole of the Atlantic. Clearly the advantage of all this is that there will be predominatly offshore winds for the the South West. Sunday will see the Mid-Atlantic Low deepen to 984 millibars, with another splinter coming off the system into the Denmark Strait again at 984 millibars just South and East of Greenland. All this will mean that there will be a huge amount of fronts coming off both of these entities pushing towards the UK (and Europe)., the European High meanwhile will have moved North into Western Russia at 1028 millibars. But the High pressure’s influence will be being squeezed by all the action in the Atlantic, so the cold fronts will slowly be starting to march across Western UK Coasts. The presence and influence of the High pressure does not look good at this stage, but read your areas and stay tuned for changes as the week goes on……….

OVERALL

Another very small one (at this stage), Northern Scotland looks to be your best bet throughout. But stay tuned as things may well change as the week goes on……….

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
