Example Forecast 10/10/15 – 11/10/15 – Thursday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Our story this weekend starts on Friday with two major Low pressures, one around Iceland at 998 millibars, with a second West of Spain and the Bay of the Biscay at 982 millibars. There will be two High pressures, one over Scandinavia at 1033 millibars, with a second comingout of North America at 1021 millibars. Saturday will see the Icelandic Low drop down South to sit between Iceland and Ireland filling somewhat to 1005 millibars, the Low West of Spain and Biscay will also have filled 993 millibars. The North American High will have moved East to sit in the Southern Atlantic at 1022 millibars, with the second High pressure still around Scandinavia now a bit fatter at 1031 millbars. Sunday will see the High pressure in the Atlantic start to dominate, as it fattens to 1026 millibars, and encompasses much of the Mid Atlantic, this High will have swamped much of the Low pressures out there, pushing and fattening the one off Spain and the Bay of Biscay into Portugal at 1003 millibars. A new Low off Southern Greenland on Saturday will have been pushed past Iceland into the Greenland Sea at 998 millibars. Whilst all this is going on the Scandinavian Low will still be in situ at 1031 millibars. It should also be noted that a nice fat Low around Newfoundland at 961 millibars will start to appear, but will of course have no influence on this weekend, but next week……. All this will mean things look smaller than we all first thought earlier in the week………

OVERALL

Things have changed somewhat since earlier in the week, mainly due to the fast movement of the High pressures. The South West is definitely the place to be, read the details and head to swell amplifying spots to get the best of what there is ……….

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
