PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Saturday will see a large and fat area of High pressure of 1045 millibars in Western Russia, with three Low pressures in the Atlantic. One South East of Iceland in the Norwegian Sea at 989 millibars, another off North Western Spain / just on the cusp of the Bay of Biscay at 1008 millibars, and a third coming out of North America and the Labrador Sea at 962 millibars. Sunday will see the Russian High pressure having weakened slightly to 1042 millibars, the Low off Spain will have fattened to 1017 millibars and spun anti-clockwise back into the Atlantic. The North American / Labrador Sea Low meanwhile will have moved North and East rapidly, being in the process of combining with another and be in the 980 millibar rang in the North Atlantic. All this will mean swell for Scotland and the South West read the details to get the best of what there is……….

OVERALL

Northern Scotland is definitely the call throughout, with the South West and Wales being fun especially on Saturday which will be the bigger of the two days. Have fun ……….

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
