Example Forecast 27/11/10 – 28/11/10 – Thursday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

A weak / fat Low off the North East Coast of Scotland will hover around the Highlands over the period, at about 1012 millibars. A French / Northern European Low again in the high 1000 millibar range will be at the opposite / Southern end of our range. This combined with the Russian / Eastern European Lows and consequent Easterly winds will lead to a cold blast and not a lot of action (except for Scotland and the East Coast). Time to wrap-up warm and hunker down for most of us…….

OVERALL

If we could handle the cold, the call would definitely be North Western Scotland, or the few spots on the East Coast that could handle the winds. For the West Coast meanwhile it is dieing fast (due to the winds), the early birds on Saturday will get the best of what there is. Careful if your driving as it may be hazardous with this cold blast, perhaps a better one to hunker down and avoid unless you only have a short drive to your spots?!

BEGINNERS / IMPROVERS

A small weekend, but clean in the South West, yes it will be cold, but no pain, no gain and all that! Careful if your driving as it may be hazardous with this cold blast, perhaps a better one to hunker down and avoid unless you only have a short drive to your spots?!

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
