Example Forecast 05/12/15 – 06/12/15 – Wednesday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

A Low of 947 millibars will be just South of Iceland moving rapidly Eastwards, with another Low of 987 in the Mid-Atlantic. The High pressures to counter these Low’s will be in the Southern Atlantic off Portugal at 1033 millibars, with the second High weaker over Greenland at 1003 millibars. Sunday will see all the previous Low action having moved East, to be replaced by a new Low form off South Eastern Greenland at about 984 millibars, and another fatter Low will form in the Mid-Atlantic at 1008 millibars. All this will mean swell generally everywhere, but with strong winds shelter will be key. Read your areas to get the best of what there is, and stay tuned as things may change as the week goes on……….

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
