Example Forecast 05/12/15 – 06/12/15 – Friday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Saturday will see a packed section of four Low pressures to the North and South West of us. A series of two Low pressures of 986 millibars and 987 millibars to the South West of us will move up from the Southern Mid-Atlantic towards North Western Irealnd as the day continues. Meanwhile in the North Atlantic there will be two other rapidly moving Lows, one just South of Ireland at 943 millibars, with another South East of Greenland at 968 millibars, these low pressures like the other ones will move Eastwards by Midday. The High pressures to counter these Low pressures will be a big Fat one of 1038 millibars over South Eastern Europe, with another of 1024 millibars coming out of North America. Sunday will see the North American High squeeze through the Mid-Atlantic, heading North and East towards South Western Ireland and the South Western UK. Europe will also see a High explosion as the original High pressure on Saturday will now see several over Europe one over Central Europe at 1037 millibars, another around the Black sea at 1036 millibars, and a third in South Western Russia again at 1036 millibars. This line / bank of High pressures will mean that all the Low pressures will be kept to the North East and West respectively. So the Low pressures will be as follows, one main Low of 993 millbars West of Spain / in the South Western Near Mid-Atlantic, another Low of 964 millibars will be in the Norwegian Sea, with a final third just South of Greenland. All this will mean lots of swell, (mainly in the West), but finding spots that can handle the winds will be key……

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
