Example Forecast 03/12/10 – 04/12/10 – Tuesday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Two minor Lows on Saturday (in the 1000 millibar range) will be just occluding fronts in reality, due to a Mediterranean High of 1020 millibars pushing fronts up from Central Europe. This High will lesson any effect the Low’s might have, and by Sunday the High will have moved even North to encompass much of the UK at 1015 millibars. A North Western Galician Low of 975 millibars also on Sunday will be moving towards us, but it’s speed and effect on the situation is unclear at the moment. However, the reality is that this Low will have little effect for the weekend forecast. Stay tuned for further updates, as things will undoubtedly develop as the week goes on………….

OVERALL

Could go on some highfaluting monologue of how if you head to such and such spot you might get an ok wave, but in reality it’ll be pretty naff everywhere really - probably some Christmas shopping is the best bet!?! Stay tuned for further updates, as things will undoubtedly develop as the week goes on…………

BEGINNERS / IMPROVERS

It doesn’t matter how keen you are this is one to give a miss, hazardous conditions on the roads and naff surf are not great options for anyone. You’ve earned a rest / some force feeding to put on some blubber to combat the cold!?! Stay tuned for further updates, as things may change as the week goes on…………

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
