PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Saturday will see a weak Low of 1007 over South Western England, with another Low of 995 millibars in the Southern Mid-Atlantic / off Portugal. In the North there will be a fat Low of 1011 millibars off Southern Iceland, the High pressures to counter all this will be a fat High pressure of 1025 millibars in the Mid-Atlantic, with another of 1022 millibars over Greenland and another of 1029 millibars over Italy and the Mediterranean. Sunday will see everything from Saturday track Eastwards, so by Sunday Midday the Low in the Southern Atlantic (off Portugal), will have move North and East to be double centred at 991 millibars and 990 millibars off North Western Spain and South Western Ireland respectively. The High in the Mid-Atlantic will have weakened to 1017 millibars, whilst the Greenland High will now be over Iceland at 1017 millibars. There will be other things happening, but nothing to really have much influence on us over the period, so read your areas to get the best of what there is…….

OVERALL

Swell for most places, but the winds will be the key, read your areas to get the best of what there is. The South West looks like the best option overall, especially for Sunday when the winds will be more Southerly. Good hunting wherever you’re headed……….

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
