PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

A Low in the bay of Biscay on Friday will move rapidly North and East to come to sit around Southern England / The Channel by Midday on Saturday at 989 millibars, with another deeper Low of 968 millibars in the Mid-Atlantic , and another of 982 millibars South East of Greenland. The main High pressure will sit over Scandinavia at 1043 millibars. Sunday will see Saturday’s Channel Low having moved quickly East into North Eastern Europe filling as it goes, whilst the Mid-Atlantic Low will have moved East too, being about 965 millibars off Western Ireland. Saturday’s previous Low action over Central Europe will be replaced by a High of 1009 millibars, with another High of 1022 millibars over Mainland Greenland. This will all mean lots of swell, but also lots of wind, so finding shelter / spots with some wrap-around swell will be key, good hunting……….

OVERALL

Strong winds everywhere, read the details and hunt if need be, there’s enough swell to find something if you hunt hard enough!

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
