Example Forecast 16/01/16 – 17/01/16 – Friday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Saturday will see a High pressure of 1028 millibars sitting over the Mainland UK on Saturday, with two deep Low’s of 971 millibars in the Mid-Atlantic, with another deep Low of 959 millibars coming out of the Labrador Sea. There will be other High pressures over Greenland at 1032 millibars, and another High over Spain at 1034 millibars. Sunday will see the Mid-Atlantic and Labrador Low combine and form one entity of 988 millibars, which will have spun into the Northern Atlantic just off the Greenland Coast, with another deep Low of 975 millibars coming out of North America. The High pressures will still be over Greenland, Central Europe and Scandinavia all around the 1030 millibar range, with a fourth final High around the Azores at 1024 millibars. All this will mean small swell, as the High pressures and the distance of the Low pressures from us will generally mean a lack of swell for most spots……….

OVERALL

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
