Example Forecast 20/02/16 – 21/02/16 – Wednesday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Saturday will see a big High pressure of 1040 millibars over the Azores, but stretching all the way across the Southern Central Atlantic and into the Mediterranean. The only Low to mention will be a deep one of 964 millibars just East of Iceland in the Norwegian Sea. Sunday will see the Low East of Iceland revolve in situ, getting a bit fatter to 968 millibars, whilst the High pressure in the Southern Mid Atlantic will continue also remain in situ, weakening to 1032 millibars, but still having a big influence Eastwards into the Mediterranean. Meanwhile a new (fat) Low of 1004 millibars will start to come out of North America in the far Western Atlantic, at this time it doesn’t look like it’ll play much of a part, but you never know, so stay tuned, as things may change as the week develop……….

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
