Example Forecast 05/03/16 – 06/03/16 – Friday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Saturday will see two fat High pressures in the Mid-Atlantic of 1033 millibars coming out of North America, and another over the Azores at 1034 millibars. The counter to these two large entities, will be a Low of 997 millibars, just off the East Coast of Greenland, with the other main Low being 994 millibars over Eastern Europe. By Sunday a new Low willl have come out of the Labrador Sea, crossed Southern Greenland and taken the place of Saturday’s Low, just East of Greenland at 998 millibars. This movement will in turn have move the original Low around Greenland, South and East into the North Eastern Atlantic off the North Western Scottish and Irish Coasts at 1002 millibars. There will still be a Low around Eastern Europe, Now North Eastern Europe at 993 millibars, and the High pressures in the Mid-Atlantic will have combined to form one entity of 1034 millibars. This will mean it’s all a bit of mixed bag, so do read your areas and the details to get the best of what there is……….

OVERALL

Bit of a mixed bag - there will be swell, but the winds will generally be unfavourable. But it will be bashable, and bashing after all, makes us all surf better! ;o)

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
