Example Forecast 26/03/16 – 27/03/16 – Wednesday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Saturday will see two and a half Low pressures around us, one of 985 millibars over Ireland , with another of 970 millibars to the West of Ireland / South East of Greenland in the Northern Mid Atlantic. This second Low pressure will have another minor front associated with it pushing towards Southern Ireland / South Western England. The High pressure will be 1021 millibars over South Eastern Europe (around Austria and Slovakia). Meanwhile in the far Western Atlantic a Low of 1008 millibars will start to come out of North America. Sunday will see the Low around Ireland have moved rapidly North and East into the Norwegian Sea, deepening in the process to 966 millibars. The Low in the Northern Atlantic will move East too, to sit West of Ireland at 979 millibars, whilst the North American Low (the driving force behind a lot of these movements) will also have moved East, and deepened to 990 millibars being in the Mid Atlantic. The High pressure will still be around Southern Europe, having moved slightly Westwards to sit over South Eastern France at 1016 millibars. All this will mean swell and bashable waves, but read your areas and stay tuned, as things may change as the week develops……….

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
