PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

This weekend will see a series of Low pressures all around us, Saturday will see a double centred couple of Fat Low’s both of 1006 millibars, one in the Bay of Biscay and also off Western Galicia, a third Low will be around the Azores at 1007 millibars. To the North will be a Low of 991 millibars entering the Denmark Straight North east of Greenland, meanwhile a double centred Low will being the Norwegian Sea at 992 millibars just off Norway, with another Low in the South Eastern North Sea entering the Baltic at 993 millibars. The High pressures will be in the Eastern Mediterranean at 1021 millibars, with the second main High coming out of North America at 1036 millibars. Sunday will see the High out of North America rapidly cross the Atlantic, weakening as it goes to 1023 millibars by midday and being just South West of Ireland. This High will have a long and fat tail stretching all the way back across the Mid Atlantic to North America at 1028 millibars. The Low pressures will start off in the Labrador Sea at 1003 millibars, with a weak Low South East of Greenland at 1011 millibars. The Low around the Denmark Strait will meanwhile have moved East into the Greenland Sea, just North East of Iceland at 981 millibars. The Low in the Norwegian Sea will have moved North and East to be over Northern Norway at 998 millibars, with the other Low in the North Sea having moved into the Baltic Sea at 993 millibars. To complete the picture will be the Low off Galicia / Northern Portugal at 1013 millibars. All this will mean most of the action will be in Scotland and the East Coast, read your areas to get the best there is……….

OVERALL

Eastern Scotland and the East Coast generally are the Coasts with swell, read your areas to get the best of what there is. The South West and Wales will be small and lumpy overall. Good hunting wherever you are……….

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
