PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Saturday will see a series of High pressure to our East, the first being in the Baltic Sea at 1028 millibars, another weaker one of 1016 millibars in the Black Sea, and another fatter one at 1018 millibars in the South Eastern Mediterranean. The Low’s to counter all these High’s will start off in the Norwegian Sea at 1006 millibars, another fatter occluding one of 1019 millibars South West of Iceland in the Northern Atlantic, a third of 1002 millibars just South of Ireland / South East of England, with the final Low being South West of Portugal in the Southern Atlantic at 1000 millibars. To the West coming out of North America will be an Atlantic High pressure of 1031 millibars, with a deep Low of 995 millibars in the Labrador Sea at 995 millibars, and a High of 1028 millibars over Greenland. Sunday will see the picture remain largely the same, the changes will be as follows, one Low of 992 millibars off the Portuguese Coast, and another Low pressure off North Western Scotland at 1000 millibars. The High pressures will still be largely to our East, although there will be stil a fat High out of North America in the far Western Atlantic at 1024 millibars. All this will mean small swell everywhere, head for swell amplifying spots to get the most that there is. But stay tuned, as things may change as the week develops……….

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
