PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Saturday will see a series of High pressure to our East, the first being in the Baltic Sea at 1027 millibars, with two other weaker Lows of 1017 millibars, one in the Black Sea, and the other one around Greece in the Eastern Mediterranean. The Low’s to counter all these High’s will start off in the Norwegian Sea at 1005 millibars, then a second filling Low of 999 millibars just South of Ireland / South West of England, with the final Low being West of Portugal in the Southern Atlantic at 988 millibars. To the West coming out of North America will be a weak Low of 1012 millibars, with a High pressure to the East (our North West) around South Eastern Greenland at 1025 millibars, with another High pressure of 1023 millibars. Sunday will see the High pressures to our East remain more or less the same, with the main fat one of 1029 millibars in the Baltic Sea. The other High pressures will be over Iceland and North Eastern Greenland, both at 1030 millibars, with another in the North Western Atlantic South East of Greenland at 1033 millibars. The low pressures meanwhile will be the main one of 986 millibars off North Western Portugal / Galicia, with another weak Low of 1005 millibars which will be a splinter Low of 1005 millibars off Western Ireland. This will all mean small swell everywhere, head for swell amplifying spots to get the most that there is – read your areas to get the best of what there is……….

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
