PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Saturday will three main areas of High pressure, one to the North of us in the Norwegian Sea at 1015 millibars, another in the Bay of Biscay at 1020 millibars, with the third in the Southern Mid-Atlantic at 1022 millibars. The Low pressure to counter this will be a North Atlantic Low of 979 millibars in the Northern Mid-Atlantic with a long front stretching all the way towards the Bay of Biscay. Sunday will see the Norwegian High remain in situ at 1012 millibars, the High in the Bay of Biscay will weekend and drop down into the Mediterranean at 1018 millibars. Meanwhile the High in the Southern Mid-Atlantic will fatten to 1027 millibars, whilst the Low pressure in the Northern Mid-Atlantic will have deepened to 987 millibars, and may have splintered producing a fatter Low front of 989 millibars around North Western Scotland. Still quite early in the week and potentially a bit unclear, read your areas and stay tuned as things may well change as the week goes on……….

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
