PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Saturday will see a High pressure of 1028 millibars sitting over Southern England and much of Central Europe. In the Mid South Atlantic will be a Low of 1019 millibars, with a fat High of 1030 millibars coming out of North America, whilst coming out of the Labrador Sea will be a Low of 997 millibars, with a High pressure of 1015 millibars over North Eastern Greenland. North of Scotland in the Northern Atlantic / Northern North Sea / Southern Norwegian Sea will be a fat Low pressure of 1001 millibars. By Sunday things will have moved on somewhat, and things will look as follows, with a High pressure of 1026 sitting just South West of the UK, extending into Mainland Europe, to the South West of this High above the Canary Islands will be a fat Low pressure of 1020 millibars, with another High in the far South Western Atlantic at 1033 millibars. Meanwhile to the West of Scotland just South East of Greenland will be another Low of 1004 millibars, whilst in the Northern Norwegian Sea there will be a Low of 994 millibars impacting against the Coast. All this will mean big Swell for Northern Scotland, whilst the South West will be a lot smaller, read the details to get the best there is……….

OVERALL

Northern Scotland is the place to be for height, but the cleanest will be the South West, but it’ll be a lot smaller. Make your choice and good hunting………

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
